Argentina's stars have been given the green light to have sex at the World Cup, but were told to lay off champagne and cigars. National Coach, Diego Maradona, has been notorious for his excesses ever since his playing days. He told his players to lay off the cigars at the World Cup. But his boys have been told to go easy on their off-field activities, even though their WAGS have been allowed to join them in South Africa.
Maradona's players include Liverpool duo, Javier Mascherano and Maxi Rodriguez, Manchester City striker, Carlos Tevez and Newcastle's Jonas Gutierrez, as well as Barcelona's superstar, Lionel Messi.
Argentina's team doctor, Donato Villani said: "It's not a bad thing for the players to have sex with their wives or girlfriends during free periods. They can manage the situation in their own way.
"But problems arise when they indulge in excesses, with people who are not their regular partners, or at 2am with two bottles of bubbly and a couple of Cuban cigars. That will damage them. It is obvious, and the players are aware of it. But it is not negative for them to do what anyone does under normal conditions.
"Footballers are not Martians, and we have to show understanding. We won't run a police regime at our World Cup camp. It is our intention to keep the players happy, and to make compromises for the good of their families."
