The senate leader,Teslim Folarin yesterday said the upper chamber of the National Assembly has not been officially briefed about the deployment of troops in the Niger Delta.
The Senate leader spoke in Ibadan during a lecture on the 10th year of legislature in Nigeria Union of Journalist(NUJ) Oyo state council.Though Folarin deplored the military action in the region,he was quick to blame the incident on excessess of militants especially the alleged killings of some soldiers by the militants in the Niger Delta.
However,Folarin advised Nigerians to exercise caution when making comments about the ongoing military attack in the NigerDelta
He said,"we have to be careful because the NigerDelta crisis is a sensitive issue.I have the privilege of leading fellow senators to the creeks in 2001 because we once got out to have on -the -spot assessment of the areas on which we legislate. For me,I saw a contradiction-the very poor living with the very rich in the same NigerDelta community.
