Female members of the Oyo State branch of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners have said they will protest naked on the streets of major towns in the state if the state government fails to pay them within two weeks.
The Chairman of the union, Alhaji Lateef Adegoke, who stated this at a news conference to begin a series of protests that would last two weeks, lamented the continued non-payment of their pension arrears and gratuities.
Adegoke urged its members in the 33 local government areas of the state to mobilise to the palaces of the monarchs in their various towns from Monday next week, daily, for one week.
He said pensioners from Ibadan for instance, would converge at the Olubadan's palace while those from other towns such as Oyo would relocate to the palace of the Alaafin and those from Ogbomoso would be at Soun's palace.
He said, "If the governorr fails to do anything concerning their plight after sending the royal fathers to plead with him for a whole week, our women will be asked to come out naked.
